Kosher/Shomer Shabbat Program

Camp starts in:

Step It Up has become the destination for the Jewish basketball player grades 5-12 as well as NCAA players from all over the world.

Summer 2015 we anticipate players from 18 states and 10 countries:
States: California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas,Virginia, Washington.

Countries: Brazil, Canada, France, Israel, Luxembourg, Panama, Russia, Spain, Venezuela, USA.

Shacharit, Mincha and Maariv flow naturally into our daily schedule (BELOW) and Shabbat serves as a rest day for the entire camp. Our full time head of Jewish life from Yeshiva University is there to supervise minyanim and keep the boys focused.

Optional learning is offered daily after Mincha, on Shabbat and available throughout the week.

All food is Glatt Kosher and prepared on site by our in house caterer. We are also able to provide special meal options for any athletes that have dietary restrictions.

Step It Up provides a truly unforgettable Shabbat experience.

Friday night davening is followed by a traditional meal with reflective discussion of the week’s experiences, divre torah, zmirot and benching. Shabbat morning shul will be led by our YU Rabbi. After lunch boys have the option to rest, learn or grab a pick up game. At 6:30 pm we get together for Mincha followed by Seuda Shlishit, Maariv and Havdalah.

Motzei Shabbat, the boys prepare for the next basketball week. This time also serves as laundry night for many. You’d be amazed at how quickly they pick it up! Doing your own laundry is just one of the everyday life skills taught at Step It Up. We  take full advantage of our time with the boys to instill these skills as a supplement to our basketball curriculum.

We understand that an athlete’s success is attributed to more than just their performance on the court. We strive to encourage mental strength, persistence, and determination among all of our athletes. Each athlete will be challenged to define their goals, while continuously being encouraged and supported throughout the program.
